Day One: Salvation
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
The Lord’s design for marriage is specific. God created marriage to be a covenant between two believers to live a life together to glorify God, and to be a representation of the relationship between Christ and the church. This can not happen if both, the man and the woman, are not saved. We are able to love because Christ loved us first, and Christ should be our first love. So praying that, your future husband, knows or will be drawn by the Holy Spirit, should be the greatest desire of your heart for him. Christ is to be the cornerstone of all Godly marriages, and that starts with our individual relationships with him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Father I come before you, and you know, the desire of my heart to one day have a godly marriage and a partner in life, with whom I can glorify you with, as I walk along this journey. Lord I believe that these desires within my heart for a godly husband and a godly marriage, were placed there by you, and I desire to honor you with them by giving those desires back to you. Lord I believe that your timing is perfect, and that you as my creator and sustainer, know exactly what is best for me. Lord you know me better than I know myself, and I release the pen of my life to you, and will allow you to write a love story for me that will be beyond anything I could ever imagine.
Father I pray for the man you will one day bring into my life. I thank you for sending Christ to die for our sins. I thank you for my salvation and the assurance that I have that I am your daughter and the delight of your heart. I thank you that you pursued me and allowed the Holy Spirit to draw me to a place where I saw the depravity of my sin and my need for a Savior. I thank you that you have brought me to a place where i understand the price that was paid for my sins. Father I thank you for the grace that was poured out on me when Christ took the sins of the world on his shoulders and you turned your face from Him. Father I thank you that you loved me enough that even if I were the only sinner that you would have still given your son as a sacrifice and he would have willingly laid down his life to shed his blood and die on the cross for me. Thank you Lord, for knowing what a mess I would be as a person, and seeing that my life would never be perfect this side of Heaven, and that I would continue to struggle even after you saved me, and chose to save me anyways. Father I am grateful that you saw fit before the creation of the world to give us free will, but also to create a plan of redemption, and that you loved me enough that you chose to make a way for me to be reconciled to you through the sacrifice Jesus made for me. Lord thank you for not giving up on me and continuing to sanctify my life to use it for your glory.
Father I pray that if marriage is in my future, that you would strengthen the desires of my heart for only a Godly Marriage. I pray that you would help me to see the standards of your word, and that you had a specific design for marriage. Lord, I pray that you would keep me from allowing myself to give my heart to men that my heart does not belong to. Father I pray that you would reinforce the idea that marriage is between two believers. Lord there is no need for me to date a man who doesn’t know you, so I pray that if the man you have for me does not yet know you, that you would draw him to you, in a very clear way through the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord pursue him in a way that is undeniably you Lord. Help him to ask the questions and to investigate what he knows to be true against the truth of your word. Father I pray that you would help him to see his need for a savior, and help him to know that the love, grace, and mercy Christ offers through his resurrection is available to him today. Father I pray if he doesn’t know you that you would send people into his life who would be real with him about the state of his heart, and would care about him enough to share the gospel with him. Father I pray that you would help him to turn from himself and turn to you so that he can become the godly man you have called him to be.
Father I know that marriage does not work when two people don’t both know you and put you first, and so I pray that you would have already drawn my future husband, to you in a way that was real and undeniable. I am so grateful to know that Lord you are omniscient, and that you know all things, and that you knew that this would be the desire of my heart, to pray this prayer, before he was even born. Father I am thankful that you may have already brought him to yourself, and I praise you that you are working in his life in mighty ways. Lord I pray that he has been saved and forgiven and is living a life to glorify you. Lord I pray that if he has already given his life to you that daily you would give him the assurance of his salvation, and that you have given him the gift of eternal life, because he has surrendered his life into your hands. I thank you for saving him so that we can one day love each other through the overflow of love that Christ has given us. I thank you for saving him so that he can live for you and we can one day minister and work to glorify and enjoy you together.
In Jesus Name I pray –
